" Grace has worn her poncho and pompom hat so much this winter.....she has actually become known for wearing them and people always comment on how beautiful the products are and how cute they look on her! I always make sure I tell people where and how to get their hands on their own Weebits, so hopefully drumming up a bit more business for you!! Oh, and they have kept her toasty, toasty warm during this miserable Melbourne winter!! "

Merino Wool Washing Instructions

All Weebits garments are pre-washed. Do not machine wash as this can cause shrinkage. This includes spinning clothes to dry after hand washing.

We recommend a gentle baby wool wash or our Woolskin wool wash available online .

Washing instructions

  • Warm hand wash only
  • Roll in a towel to remove excess water
  • Lay flat to dry
  • Do not bleach or rub
  • Dry flat in shade - Sunlight can change the colour of the wool

  • Do not tumble dry
  • Warm iron if needed
  • Able to be dry cleaned

About Pilling

Pilling is a natural characteristic of fine wool fibres, including our soft merino. It happens when short or loose fibres rub together during wear and form little balls or "pills" on the surface of the fabric. This is especially common in areas where there’s more friction—like under baby’s arms, around the legs.

Less chemically treated or coated wool retains more of its natural softness, which we love — but it may pill more than superwash-treated wool, which has been smoothed or coated to reduce friction

What to Do

Pilling is completely normal and doesn’t mean your garment is faulty - it’s just your woollens settling in. The good news is that it usually lessens after a few gentle washes.

To remove pills, we recommend using a wool comb or a fabric shaver very lightly. Always be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate knit. After removing pills and washing carefully, your merino will return to its smooth, soft feel.

With a little care, your Weebits knits will continue to look beautiful and last for years to come.

Care for Your Brushes

Remove loose hair.
Wash in lukewarm water with a touch of shampoo.
Dip ONLY the bristles in water and move the brush back and forth.
Please take care to ensure that the brush body does not get too wet.
After this, rinse the brush well in clear water and place on a cloth for drying.
The bristles should point down during the drying process.
Never leave brush to dry near a heater – room temperature is ideal.

Sheepskin Rugs

Quick Care:
Use occasional vacuuming, shaking, brushing and spot cleaning using Woolskin wool wash

These instructions will help keep your Classic product in new condition for years to come!

You may notice a “new leather” smell when receiving a new sheepskin or sheepskin product. This is not a harmful smell and will naturally disperse with time. The rug does not need to be washed, but can benefit from a good shake and an airing. We recommend airing your rug if required in an open space out of direct sunlight,  as wool does filter odours from the environment.

Classic sheepskin products are easy care and regular brushing, vacuuming and shaking helps restore the pile and keep them free from dust.
The leather side can be easily damage by incorrect washing, therefore the steps provided will help reduce the risk.

To clean, spot cleaning or hand cleaning is always best but our sheepskins are also machine washable in cold water on a gentle wool wash.
When hand cleaning use a small amount of water and wool-wash as per the details below. Lightly sponge over the wool side only focusing on rubbing through the wool and not the skin underneath. Start in the middle and sponge out to the edges. Brush to restore pile and dry slowly in the shade. Once dry give the sheepskin a good shake and another brushing with a pet brush if needed.

If Machine Washing:

  • Only use a small amount of an approved Neutral or Mild Sheepskin Wash.
Woolskin wool wash is always recommended.  If unavailable, then just use water.
  • Do not use Eco Store wool wash for these sheepskin rugs.
  • Only use cold water.
  • Avoid Direct Heat when drying, dry outside in the shade or inside away from heaters, radiators or fires. Using a clothes rack to lay the sheepskin flat is a good way to dry a skin.
  • Do not let the sheepskin dry out too fast, it is best to leave a small amount of moisture in the skin.
  • After the sheepskin is dry, brush with a pet brush to restore pile and finish with a solid shake.

Sheepskin Footwear

  • Avoid getting moisture on footwear as this can stain. If footwear does need cleaning it is best spot cleaned, using a small amount of approved Neutral or Mild Sheepskin Wash liquid and a cloth. Follow the rules above and treat like you would cleaning carpet.
